The game was released for Steam, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in April 2013, with an iOS version released the following month.[2][3][4] Due to expiring licenses, the game was pulled from sale in September 2018.[5]Gameplay[edit]Like the original game, Poker Night 2 is a computer-based poker simulation between an unseen participant (the player) and four characters. Each player starts with the same amount of virtual money, and competes in standard poker rules to try to eliminate all the other players by exhausting their money. In addition to Texas hold 'em style of play, Poker Night 2 includes Omaha hold 'em as well. The four additional characters in addition to the player are Sam from the Sam & Max franchise (voiced by David Nowlin), who is assisted by Max (voiced by David Boat), Brock Samson from The Venture Bros. (voiced by Patrick Warburton), Ash Williams from The Evil Dead franchise (voiced by Danny Webber), and Claptrap from the Borderlands series (voiced by David Eddings). GLaDOS (voiced by Ellen McLain) from the Portal series takes a supporting role as the dealer. During the hands, these characters provide humorous chatter between each other and towards the player. Reginald Van Winslow (voiced by Roger L. Jackson) from Tales of Monkey Island reprises his role as the host.[1][6][7] Additional brief cameos include Steve the Bandit and Mad Moxxi from Borderlands, Doug and a Save-Lot Bandit from The Walking Dead, and a waiter from Gravity Bone. The game features unlockable in-game card, chip and table designs, as well as 'Bounty Unlocks' for completing certain goals, which unlock Borderlands 2 content and, depending on the platform played, Team Fortress 2 items on Steam, Xbox Avatar items, or PlayStation 3 themes.[6][8] Simultaneously using chips, cards, and tables sharing the same theme alters the design of the Inventory, opening up new conversation possibilities. Players can also buy the other characters drinks in order to more easily expose their tells.Steam Community :: Guide :: Poker Night 2: How To Find The Tells!Development[edit]Gameplay of Poker Night 2, showing the player with a royal flush, beating Sam (three of a kind), Brock (folded), and Claptrap (folded). Ash has busted out of the game on an earlier hand and can be seen at the bar in the background. The first Poker Night game was developed by Telltale during a lull in their release schedule, and proved to be successful; Steve Allison, vice president of publishing at Telltale, believed it was the relationship between Telltale and the Valve that contributed to the success of the game, luring players with Team Fortress 2 items for performing well in the game.[9] As completion of The Walking Dead neared, Telltale found themselves in another lull, and returned to the Poker Night concept as a way to fill the gap.[9]Character selection was more direct than the first game, with Telltale wanting to bring in characters from movies and television. Allison had a good relationship with MGM Studios who were eager to offer characters, and was able to secure the character of Ash from Evil Dead, which also was timed well against the release of the 2013 remake.[9] Similarly, Allison stated that Cartoon Network readily agreed to the inclusion of Brock from Venture Bros., one of the Telltale team's first selections.[9]Gearbox Software, the creators of Borderlands, appreciated the first game, and allowed the Claptrap character to be used.[9] The final spot at the table was to be left open for a character from a Telltale game, eventually resulting in Sam. They had considered using either Marty or Doc Brown from the Back to the Future game but realized that they would not be appropriate in a game with mature spoken content. Similarly, characters from The Walking Dead series would not be a thematic fit for the poker title, as it would make people emotional about the game.[9] To help make the play more personable, they needed to have a dealer for the table, and GLaDOS was considered an obvious fit.[9]Marketing[edit]Telltale started a website called The Key Party in 2013 in order to promote the game, with a new keychain related to the game characters revealed every working day from March 25 until April 1, when the game was officially revealed.[1]Reception[edit]Anthony Gallegos from IGN gave the game a 7.5 out of 10.[10]Review aggregator website Metacritic gave the PC version of the game 75/100,[11] the PlayStation 3 version 63/100,[12] the Xbox 360 version 69/100,[13] and the iOS version 80/100.[14]References[edit]^ abcd'Telltale Teasing The Key Party'. You only trigger the sequence after you win a bet. It ends when you lose a bet. How does it work?Below are some examples considering a unit bet of $10If you lose 4 bets in a row, all your bets would have been $10. Without a winning bet to trigger the sequence, the bet size stays the same.If you win 4 bets in a row your bet sizes would be $10, $30, $20 & $60. The sequence is triggered by winning a bet and continues because there is no losing bet. The sequence ends after you win 4 bets in a row. If you win 5 bets in a row your 5th bet would go back down to $10.If you win the first 2 bets but lose the 3rd bet, your bet sizes are $10, $30, $20 & $10. The betting system is triggered because you have a winning bet and continues until you have a losing bet. Since the 3rd bet was lost, you would drop back down to the $10 bet and start again.Mixing up your bet sizes in this way reduces the risk of blowing out and betting everything you have on one hand. It provides some structure to your play so that you can enjoy the game as much as possible. The four-step progression adds some excitement to the game. And it reduces the monogamy of betting the same amount every time. Keep in mind, though: This Blackjack betting system will not give you an edge over the house. The house edge remains the same regardless of what amount you are betting. No betting strategy can affect it.Oscars Blackjack Betting StrategyOscars Grind betting system is a progressive betting strategy that revolves around the concept of neutralizing losing streaks and always winning one unit of profit per progression. Blackjack Betting Strategy CardsThe system was originally developed around 1965. Back then it aimed to manage small and consistent profits at the game of Craps. No matter what game you play, the goal of the Oscars betting strategy is to make one unit of profit for each sequence.Once you win 1 unit, then the whole progression resets and you start again. So, if you win the first bet, the next bet remains the same as the general aim has been achieved. If you lose your first bet, then the next bet is also 1 unit. The difference now is that you are down 1 unit. So, the progression system should begin so you can recoup that loss and generate the 1 unit of profit. If your second bet wins, the next bet is doubled. Each successive winning hand continues to double in stakes until the aim of winning 1 unit is reached. Once that occurs the progression is reset again, and we begin from scratch. You need to think of bets in terms of units and not an amount. Select the unit size you want to use and then you can follow the below rules:When you lose a bet, your next bet will be down to 1 unit. When you win a bet, your next bet needs to be 1 unit higherSTOP the moment you have a profit of 1 unit on the sequence. The next bet will be 1 unit and you start the process again.Below are some examples:Bet SizeResultRunning Profit1 UnitLoss-11 UnitLoss-21 UnitLoss-31 UnitLoss-41 UnitWin-32 UnitsWin-12 UnitsWin1STOPHow to read the table:You see, while you’re losing, you keep the bet at the minimum unit size while accumulating losses. Once you win a bet - the progression begins. That’s when you embark on a mission to recoup the losses and have a profit of 1 unit. If you’re still with me, you may wonder - Why on the last bet the wager is 2 units and not 3?That’s because your aim is to profit for exactly 1 unit, remember? At this stage of the sequence, you were losing 1 unit, thus a bet size of 2 units would result in 1 unit of profit. So, even though you won the previous bet, you don’t need to increase your bet size.
